And you might too!

It’s been a while since my last blog post, and in that time, I’ve been doing what I can to market my novel, Queen of Zazzau. It ain’t easy, I tell ya!

I did a Fantasy convention and a podcast, and I’ve been posting on Twitter, Instagram, FB, and Tumblr. I’m stretched so thin right now (because I do have a day job), that I’m somewhat concerned about heading into AfroMyth 2–which is currently taking submissions. I also started a Go Fund Me page for the AfroMyth 2 project because I want to pay my authors more than $0.01/word. So if you’re in the giving mood, please head over to https://bit.ly/2Tqbiy8 and donate whatever you can (or are inclined to do).

So, back to my novel.

Queen of Zazzau got some pretty good reviews from NetGalley and three rather nasty ones. The first bad review made me sad/angry, but the following two I took in stride. Then came Publisher’s Weekly who said the following:

Emuakpor craftily weaves fascinating characters, facts, and folklore together into a riveting adventure steeped in African culture. Amina is strong-willed, often naive, yet refreshingly intelligent.

And it was a STARRED review!

What is a starred review, you ask? Well, I shall tell you. “A starred review indicates a book of outstanding quality.” Thus saith Publisher’s Weekly. As you might have guessed, I am over the moon!

I’m also battling sleep right now, so I’ve got to go.

If you haven’t yet, mosey on over to any bookstore and see if they’ve got Queen of Zazzau. Read it, and you may like it. And in case you weren’t certain, it is rated R for adult themes.
